Being a Postdoc: Research Projects From the BUILDing SCHOLARS

Join us on Tuesday, Oct 26, at 4:30 pm MT for the "Being a Postdoc: Research Projects From the BUILDing SCHOLARS" presented by Dr. Angelica Monarrez, the Research Training Coordinator at BUILDing SCHOLARS (

  • What is a Postdoc?

  • How do you become a postdoctoral researcher?

  • How to do multiple research studies from a large data set?

Dr. Monarrez graduated from the TLC program in 2017. She has been working as a Postdoc since. She would share with us how she became a postdoc and what she is currently working on (e.g., publications, conference, networking…, etc.) in the BUILDing SCHOLARS, which is an interdisciplinary, NIH funded program at UTEP.

BUILDing SCHOLARS is a center of excellence established at The University of Texas at El Paso with support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) - Common Fund. Our goal is to implement a suite of programs and activities that will positively transform the training of the next generation of biomedical researchers from U.S. Southwest groups through a multi-institution consortium in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, as well as three extra-regional sites.

The EL3 Lab serves as a forum for building and sustaining research from diverse perspectives focused on the U.S. and Mexico border context.

You are invited to this coloqio and feel free to forward this invitation to others who may be interested.

All are welcome!
