Paso del Norte Partnership for Education Research (PDNPER) Fall Symposium

Join us on Tuesday, Sep 14, at 4:30pm MST for the PDNPER Fall Symposium meeting presented by Dr. Holly Fields and Dr. Katherine Mortimer.

This meeting is for TLC doctoral students who want to make the most of PDNPER Fall Symposium (

Dr. Holly Fields is Assistant Director for research-practice partnerships in UTEP’s College of Education and visiting Assistant Professor of the Educational Leadership and Foundations. Her passion is to develop successful future school leaders in the K-12 setting by providing relevant and "hands-on" effective leadership practices that ensure the experiences match the career interests of her students. Based on her 30 years of experience in public education with 20 years in school leadership, her research interests have focused on helping school leaders identify key instructional practices that maximize student learning. (

Dr.  Katherine Mortimer is Associate Professor of Bilingual/Biliteracy Education in the College of Education. Her research focuses on equity for bilingual students, with a focus on secondary-level dual language education, language policies, and processes of social identification at school.

The EL3 Lab serves as a forum for building and sustaining research from diverse perspectives focused on the U.S. and Mexico border context.
