Fine Arts Juror Lecture: MacKenzie Stevens

MacKenzie Stevens is the Director of the Visual Arts Center (VAC) at The University of Texas at Austin. Situated in the Department of Art and Art History, the VAC provides pivotal exhibition and research space, and serves as a creative hub in the university’s active arts community. Within its five gallery spaces, the VAC exhibits new work commissioned from established national and international artists, as well as the work of talented students just entering into their professional artistic careers. Stevens joined the VAC in 2018 from the Hammer Museum at the University of California in Los Angeles where she was part of the curatorial team for four years.  In her role at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Stevens organized exhibitions, performances and public programs. Prior to her tenure at the Hammer, Stevens held editorial, research, and archival positions in Los Angeles and New York City at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Museum of Modern Art, and Pace Gallery. Stevens received her BA in art history from the University of California, Berkeley and her MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London.
