This film screening, hosted by the United Teacher Education Doctoral Students (UTEDS), is a documentary called "High School 9-1-1." It follows Darien EMS-Post 53, the one-of-a-kind organization services 20,000 residents 365 days a year, 24/7 and responds to over 1,500 emergency calls annually. This organization covers one of the deadliest stretches of highway off of I-95 and is rated one of the top in the nation-volunteer or paid-and it's run and operated by teenagers.
It raises the question: What are teenagers actually capable of when given the opportunity by the adults in their lives? This provoking question aims to empower all students or teens and give them opportunities to do real, meaningful and collaborative work in their communities.
