Are you responsible for historical records at your institution and are unsure what to do with them? Archives come with their own terminology, cataloging methods, handling and preservation needs, and access procedures, all of which can be challenging for those tasked with maintaining these collections. Many libraries, museums, and volunteer organizations end up acquiring archival materials over time but often are unable to dedicate adequate resources and staffing for their care.
ARCHIVES 101 is a day-long workshop to introduce basic archival education to those who care for historical records but have not had the benefit of formal training. This includes librarians, museum curators, public historians, records managers, and volunteers associated with clubs, religious institutions, businesses, and social organizations.
